The Batagaika Crater is a thermokarst depression in the form of a one kilometre-long gash that reaches a depth of up to 100 meters. It opened up in the nineteen nineties and is steadily growing, in some parts up to 15 meters per year. Inside the crater, you are constantly surrounded by loud cracking noises caused by falling bits of mud and trees combined with the biting smell of 200.000 years old mud. People believe the crater to be the doorway to hell. Siberia, Russia 2018
